I try really hard and I really like the kids. They always get the best of me but I try to teach them that there is a better life. I'm a sucker for the handicapped. I just want them to know that this world is a big place and there's room for all of us, no matter what our limitations might be. No matter how bad it might get, they always have a friend in me. Whatever they need we can always discuss it and if it's okay with mom and dad, it's okay with me. It's surprising how much they can open up and find themselves when they have a buddy to rely on as a pinch hitter. I generally leave in tears most times but I just think of their strength with how much they have to deal with and I'm able to pull myself back together so we both feel better.

I needed that too when I was young and fortunately had a few teachers who I was able to confide in, and went out of their way to do it, so I try to give it back.

I just root for the underdogs....because I was really more fortunate being an athletic type but mentally it was rough and I know what it's like to experience a broken home. There's love there but it's just hidden underneath the veils, it forces you to seek it outside of the home and that's where we get into trouble.

I'm still dealing with it by getting shitfaced and being nasty today but I suppose that feeling will never go away for me. When I'm around the kids it all melts away for awhile.

I don't enjoy seeing adults suffer either but sometimes we make our own beds, and all I can do is help, rather than offer advice...

I'll keep it going for as long as I can.. It's fun now because I can get the kids into the zoo so they can experience it like when I was a child and it doesn't cost their parents a thing because they are already strapped trying to keep them healthy. Nothing makes me happier than to be able to do that for them but I just need to keep myself alive so we can all enjoy it together for years to come.

Besides, the new class of Astronauts graduated from NASA this past week. Such a class, just look at them, each would make every American proud.
