Here is Fate of Empires in its entirety. You can read the whole thing; it's pretty short:

https://people.uncw.edu/kozloffm/glubb.pdf

And it does not really speak to the world as we see. Not even historians would view it as relevant today.

Point is empires fall, but those societies didn't live on the pinhead we do with maybe the exception Rome.....At least those I quoted showed some sense of critical thinking....

What "pinhead"?? And, as noted, historical interpretations change. In the last century, what we called the "Dark Ages" were thought too be a horrible time in Europe. The Roman Empire had collapsed, leaving a void that wouldn't be filled until the dawn of the Renaissance. Many scholars today believe things weren't as dark as they seemed. After all, as Islam became more and more popular, it spread from Africa to some parts of Europe, and to a good deal of Asia. The Ottoman Empire, an important part of the Muslim world, lasted until Wolrld War I.

And what about the Chinese? Is this "their" century, as the 20th was ours, and the 19th was the Brits'? Maybe, but it's too soon to tell.

One thing is certain: we are by now completely dependent on technology. That is a good thing and a bad thing. One thing is certain. We need to find ways of getting along together better than we currently.
