You are just strange, I think you are an American, but you have no idea what it is like to actually be one. Maybe you should read the history of America and understand the wars the country fought to create this idea of freedom.
First, we fought the Indians to gain a foothold into this country, and then we kept on fighting them to gain territory for the settlers who kept arriving and displaced even more Indians. So, spare me your thought of bullshit or tax dollars. Then we fought ourselves to define freedom to include the very slaves that we once explained away as being a percentage of an actual man. Now try and let your mind wander for a minute, wow all men are created equal, it is more than just a catch phrase.
Now try and read what each President did to make this country called America and discover that we kept going across the country from one ocean to another, and everything in between. There were many wars to get this accomplished. Then America decided it was time to look overseas and define itself and this idea of freedom for everyone to see. We soon discovered that many foreign countries had their own ideas when it came into enslaving the people of the world.
We entered two World Wars and a few more after that. Now for some reason you want America to just stop this idea of freedom, and just shelter in place in a country that we took with wars.
