#108182 RE: ColdDarkHole #108181

In your opinions, can this project ever go forward or is it just plain doomed in every way?

Sure it can. There’s legitimate talk about mining the moon and asteroids. We know there are valuable resources deep under the Elk Creek area. If one can imagine a day of mining the moon, I think it’s fair to predict Elk Creek gets commercially mined before that.

What is the biggest thing stopping financing?

It’s not anywhere close to being economically feasible.

Why does the company hang on if they know it is? They've been in the business long enough to know if it is or is not doomed right?

They are here for the same reason as you. To make money. They are doing that quite well. Why would they give it up?

Is the orebody just too hard to mine at current legitimate prices?

Bingo. In the end it really is this simple.

Would the USA spend money just to have the minerals supplied from our own lands?

Maybe, but not in my opinion. Allies like Canada and Australia have much better potential resources, but if at some point we really went the way of protectionism I guess it could happen, but then again if we were no longer trading with Canada and Australia then I think we would have far bigger problems than worrying about Elk Creek. I have long said the niobium is the most valuable resource from the point of national security. Of course I really shouldn’t say that without pointing out that 50% of that mineral is committed to a German metals broker.
