For taters?, Yup, when baked taters. Here's the ricer I have and you do get a few flakes of skin in the but no biggy. I love my ricer. Can use to make all kinds of things, apple sauce, baby food, squish cooked carrots and such through, whatever. Next time I make mashed taters, I may cut them in 1/2 length wise, scoop the tater out and do something with the shell.
