Back when I was mindlessly and religiously committed to NO government, I used to repeat the same line over and over - "The government should be for our defense and a few other basic services."

The problem is that our society is overwhelmingly too complex for that simplistic notion. And, ironically, that will be a big part of our undoing.

The more complex, the more splintered factions. The more demands. The more issues. The more regulation. The more government. But, NOT, less freedoms - not until the big one. Then, maybe less freedoms.

My point is that all the things you have argued for (and many more) are essential government responsibilities. But, that is only because of how complex we have become. Eventually, our complexity will implode. Government will become so large that it will destroy itself.

So, I would love to argue for a very limited government, but I know it is futile.
