Actually institutions lose all the time, definitely not as high high retail investors cause they always hedge their bets, short, long. They buy the puts and buy long position on the stock, when the rug is ready to be pulled they will pull it so their puts pay handsomely. One can never win against them, you got to play with them. Go long on the stock and buy puts to hedge, but if you have high conviction that this will see dollars buy the calls instead of the puts, like I did with AM*C.
