Keep preaching that nonsense. You’ll never convince me that MM’s simply create a market!!! That’s their job, of course, but their job is also to make a profit (involves much more than a bid-ask spread) and the bottom line is where it’s at with MM’s!!!

Shotsky, you and I have had this back and forth previously. Rather than argue about it, I think you should go to YouTube and look up "Naked Short Selling", as well as go to any regulatory site and search for Market Maker violations. You will see for yourself that MM's do trade for their own accounts AS WELL AS FACILITATE EXECUTIONS, FOR OTHERS. I would prefer not to explain why I am so familiar with the facts, but I personally know several MM's and they absolutely trade for themselves. However, ECN's, which are electronic MM's may do nothing but execute, whereas MM's that work for BD's, Prime Brokers, etc absolutely trade for their own accounts, very often using momentum versus fundamental or technical indicators, as well as tips they get/give to each other about issuances of new shares, news flow, secondary offerings, etc. Please let's not argue, as that is not what I am attempting to do.
