General and administrative expenses for the nine months ended September 30, 2023 were $2,165,494, an increase of $1,343,499 or 163%, compared to $821,995 for the nine months ended September 30, 2022. The increase in operating expenses was mainly due to an increase in professional fees, mining maintenance fees and stock compensation expenses. In the second quarter of 2022, the Company activated consulting teams to pursue additional land acquisitions, and to begin the State and Federal permitting process for project development work.
