Arnold & Porter (da Gubmints lawyers) are just doing their job advocating for the FHFA, but despite the Government trying to hide the ball from the American People and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Shareholders these 8 Jurors to their credit could see through them.

Fortunately, jurors were able to do what judges couldn't. Too bad they didn't grant the full $1.6B though.

Why do you think it's a 5% chance that Lamberth is appealed to the appeals court? Wouldn't an appeal be consistent with the Government's modus operandi to date?

I don't recall saying there was a 5% chance of appeal. I fully expect both sides to appeal: the plaintiffs to have Lamberth's dismissal of their large damage models overturned, and at the very least to get the full $1.6B they asked for, and the defendants because that's just what the government has done all along.

The corpus of the settlement is coming out of the Corporations Balance Sheets (so too Arnold & Porters legal fees and costs?) so why wouldn't they appeal?

FnF will be the ones to pay the damages or a settlement, but I didn't think that would reduce A&P's legal fees and costs. My impression was that the plaintiffs' lawyers were on contingency while the defendants' lawyers were billing hourly.
