The first up-tempo Otis Redding song reminds me of the show band drummers with their electric dynamics.

I saw Tom Jones when after appearing at the Fontainebleau in Miami for his first USA gig, he came up to NYC and played the Copacabana.

The energy of his drummer fascinated me, as I was just beating the skins to many Chuck Berry songs and other early rock back then in a small town rock band near Woodstock, NY.

Noticed at the end of the clip that he used an overhand grip in his left hand, which gained prominence with the heavy metal drummers and continued in usage with other drummers through the ensuing decades.
