FG....yes a "grubber" but only for significant ones. I can't compete with Chas, who has them all down to a science:) Noticed that you grabbed one a while back:))). Game playing adds interest to the board IMO.

I don't know the distance of the commercial cameras that were demonstrated at the open house. Perhaps Madhatter can fill us in on that. I saw a car in the driveway that had to be at least 30 feet away from the camera. SH

The key to success is not limited to facial recognition or a high resolution camera.

We had a situation where a surveillance camera in a Wal-Mart parking lot picked up two car burglars that shattered out the back window of pick up truck and stole a compressor. The camera was about 75+ feet away and there was NO WAY whatsoever we were going to recognize a face. We did however get a good visual of the clothing and suspect vehicle which led to an arrest.

Facial recognition is rarely the key to identification from video surveillance tapes. Rarely do we ever see a bad guy stick his face in the camera, but clothing, demeanor, and vehicles can lead to a suspect. This is very common during bank robbery surveillance videos. Most suspects wear some type of disguise, dark glasses, mustache, etc. Facial recognition is very difficult form the tapes. When we do develop a suspect, we get a search warrant for the clothing seen in the video and also the materials used in the disguise. Usually someone calling a crime stoppers tips line will recognize the vehicle first, then the suspect second after first suspecting the vehicle.
