US democracy is problematic, but for the record the US is actually a republic.

For Israel a more apt comparison would be apartheid South Africa.

I read you previous posts, and you make wonderful points. I was going to mention World War II and trying to imagine if America had not entered the war, the outcome might be quite different. But then you do begin with the premise that mankind, and the world has always been a pleasant place to live through the centuries.

I am not attacking you, on the contrary even this latest war we are watching being played out on television is not an easy one to talk about it. Especially as we all sit back from the comforts of our keyboards and just type away.

Be consistent, even that is hard, measuring the actions of mankind throughout the ages is not an easy one. Maybe we should just go back to when mankind was being defined as having enough food and sheltering in some cave. We could go about a few centuries and see the horrors of the Middle Ages, but why bring up atrocities that have been occurring since we ever set foot on this planet.

This is mankind, over 8 billion people, and everywhere in the world there is a struggle by so many who are just trying to stay alive each day. So, when you ask to be consistent, is that from the comfort of a nice home, with food in the refrigerator, and all of the comforts that most of us enjoy here in America. Maybe consistency can be defined by everyone else, or maybe those few thousand who have already died in this latest war. They were just trying to eke out an existence.

Lastly, by who's rules do we play by yours, mine, or maybe someone else who actually can do something to change someone else's life. We make comments, but those comments serve no one but maybe ourselves, I couldn't even change my wife's opinion, let alone the effects of a life that is being defined by a bomb that could go off in the next few minutes.

Is the US a democracy with gerrymandering, voter suppression, and, basically, minority rule?

While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States.

This is from a headline I read which sums up my thoughts on Israel pretty well.

Opinion | Israel Is Not a Democracy
A democracy doesn't deny millions their civil rights, plunder their land and resources and deprive them of independence and of a say in their future

Where there is occupation, there are occupied people.
