Even if he was short when the shares were cancelled there is nothing to close. In BK situations like this when the shares are cancelled shorts never have to close the former short position and do not owe anything to anyone. They pocket 100% of the gain from the original short sale. Just the facts.

Can you close your short position yet? Is that concerning at all?

They can't close ANYTHING and are still paying interest on shares "borrowed". Hahahahaha~!
