Hi, Meatloaf. Thank you for the clear, concise explanation of how the icon gets corrupted. I always do better when I know how and why things are functioning the way they are. Wow. You IT folks have a monumental job ahead of you. I need to keep that in mind and restrain myself from carping over minor annoyances. Adjust is the word of the day.

... the Google gods have decreed that if we want them to smile favorably upon us, we should change the file format for icons from png, which used to be their darling, to their new crush, webp.

Hmmmm. The phone company still supports rotary phones. I believe that was a government mandate. No wonder the tech companies fight regulation tooth and nail. It would cut into their 'creativity' when they invent the next 'latest and greatest' innovation forcing consumers to 'upgrade'. Translation: spend more money. By the time the new code is in place, it's made obsolete by the next generation of changes. Good luck with all you deal with.

FWIW I avoid Google like the plague. The searches seem to yield results that lead to more search results.
Edge (with Bing) is the place for me.
Besides, 'Google' gives off a silly vibe. Think googly eyes.

P.S. I gave your post a thumbs up because I thought others should read it to find out why the icon gets corrupted.
The thumbs up is still not showing on The Q&A Board page showing the message list.
(I'm in Classic mode.)

So those of us so affected/afflicted will have to do this forever? I have now had to do this log~OUTT, clear cookies, login three times.

One more observation: one can clear the ADFVN cookie and, if one does this within 10-20 seconds of logging off iHub, a replacement ADFVN cookie appears even tho one has nott yett logged back into iHub. It appears to be a slightly time-delayed cookie.

In any case, how long will we unlucky bastards have to do this log~OUTT, clear cookies, log in routine?

Is there a specific item in the temp cache that needs to be deleted also to fix this issue permanently?
