I agree, and $36 kg for hydrogen is a deal killer for me.

So is insurance, resale value, battery or fuel cell replacement costs, overall cost of ownership for what you get is not for me either.

I own a hybrid where the engine is actually the generator / range extender for the batteries, and I can refuel at any gas station. My onboard computer shows 90+% electric (green) usage, so it does reduce my carbon footprint.
