What does there CURRENT treasurer say?

Treasury, represented by the DOJ, defended all the NWS lawsuits across three presidential administrations (Obama, Trump, Biden).

Treasury, as would be advised by the Trump administration's DOJ, said that writing off the seniors would be illegal.

There is no reason to believe the latter would change in light of the former.

The situation has changed enormously since then and will keep changing.

See my first sentence above. Many things about this situation have stayed the same; expecting them to change just because it is possible is rather illogical.
