Trump supporters committed a treasonous act of trying to overthrow an election that was conducted by the elected leaders of 50 states. Those states represent all political parties who took part in that election. Those trump supporters were brought to Washington DC by trump and then attempted to stop the vote by the elected leaders of all political parties.
In America we call that the peaceful transition of political power, what most of us in this forum is that we keep trying to defend it.
Those powers were handed down by the forefathers of America, and the Constitution.

The 'meaning of words', in the legal sense of the phrase, IS being recognized and applied by prosecutors, judges and juries in the cases of the 1/6 insurrectionists and in the 90 plus charges contained in the indictments that have come down on Trump and his co-conspirators.
