“F**kin’ Goodyear”—Stock Car Community Angered Over Tony Stewart’s $3.61 Billion NASCAR Nemesis Ruining Kansas
NASCAR Cup Series playoffs are off to a great start with the Hendrick Motorsports star Kyle Larson and 23XI Racing ace Tyler Reddick securing their spots in the next round. With Larson and Reddick cementing their berths, the battle will wage on for the remaining 10 spots. However, even before the Kansas race saw the checkered being flown, NASCAR nation got livid over the organization’s $ 3.61 billion-worth partner.
Months after 3-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart slammed NASCAR’s official tire supplier, the community yet again witnessed the billion-dollar company’s inadequacy. There were incidents in Sunday’s race at the Kansas Speedway that fell short of the fandom’s expectations.
Racing is far from being an individual sport. But when one is going triple-digit speeds alongside a fierce pack, all it takes is one small miscalculation to end things badly. And what if the one thing that’s supposed to keep you planted to the ground gives out?
That’s exactly what Tony Stewart and his then teammate, Ryan Newman, were frustrated about. NASCAR has been long associated with Goodyear, partnering with the company for several years. But in the early 2008-2009, the brand faced sharp criticism from the drivers, deeming it had excess tire wear, causing havoc on the track.
And Stewart being the man he is did not sugarcoat his words. He called out Goodyear rubber as “ridiculous.” Coming back to the race in Kansas, NASCAR nation got to witness what the veteran meant when he slammed the company. Sunday’s race at the Kansas Speedway and Saturday’s practice session were all riddled with tire faults.
While it was the 2-time Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch who fell victim earlier during Saturday’s practice session after a tire cut sent the #8 RCR Chevy into the wall, his former teammate, Martin Truex Jr found it out the hard way during the race.
The JGR veteran during the opening laps of the race, instead of gaining speed got back as a right rear puncture took away his momentum. Even the 23XI Racing driver, Bubba Wallace wasn’t impervious to tire wear as the #23 Toyota also had its right tire blown up.

With drivers having a tough day to handle with NASCAR’s tire partner repeating its fault, NASCAR fans went on a roll. They called out the tire manufacturer, trolling them mercilessly.

Besides, Busch, Truex Jr., and Wallace. Joe Gibbs Racing’s rookie sensation, Ty Gibbs also slipped during Saturday’s practice after the #54 Toyota also had a tire cut. While the fans take the practice and qualifying incidents seriously, they noticed it clearly in the race as drivers had a tough time getting the cars around the corners.
They did not hesitate to call out Goodyear, bashing the tire manufacturer left and right mercilessly. While one fan relayed the obvious, saying there were a lot of tire issues this week another sarcastically took a dig.
