oops
should clarify

while I can engage in and enjoy a level headed discussion of small GOV and more expansive Federal regulation ---- my comment about a return to conservative v liberal debate --- refers to the National Scene

Super tired of MTG and Gaetz pulling the agenda and discussion to crazy places
(and to balance - most often do not listen to Sanders - as he would dismantle the same degree as Heritage -- where I believe in shaving rough edges)

but - I can not imagine a real - honest - fulsome debate say on how to SAVE Social Security
1. Maybe starting by both sides stopping the nonsense that it will be bankrupt and not there. While right now payments are funded by incoming cash (FICA) and a trust remnant from good years --- when the trust is emptied - the estimates are that the intake from FICA can fund 70% of promises (expectations) and maybe as high ast 80%
2. So what about taxing - maybe after a gap - more high income workers pay. While Medicare (far smaller) I believe taxes all earned income - the social portion of FICA stops around $175,000 next year. Why not allow some space - say up to the new popular $400K - and then add FICA tax back in . I think that might cut the deficit (100 to 80) anywhere by 25% to 75% depending on how structured.

All of the above begs the question that is here on this board . Who would be better for FREEDOM --- D or R . Some of us have decided that this is NOT a D v R issue -- but are still stumped as to why no new solutions ? --- Other than things appears to be working (while we are robbed) so why rock the boat?
