Who will get the blame? It will be the liberals in Israel, as well as the climate fanatics - people who wouldn't let Netanyahu approve the lease. We will believe that even though Israel clearly told us two years ago, no new leases. And they have always said: no fracking.

I have no idea how the concept that Israel was going to change it's mind happened. Note the first new lease application was May 11, 2022, six months before the more conservative Netanyahu government took power. So the reason for the application happened AFTER the application for a new lease was made. How's that for convenience and a ready person to blame?
