Each brokerage has a specific short sale rule. Everybody needs to call Brokerage and find out this information ASAP.
At Schwab, it's a proliferation agreement,that specify short sales rule. Just placing sell order at limit wouldn't help, if there is existing proliferation agreement, that allow short sales to occur.
