Yes, I recall the statement about the 22 cable suppliers.
As my theory goes, Rauof went out and signed up the key 22 global cable suppliers then he shared the the tech with Macom and Semtech to help meet the demand. If you are a cable manufacturer and somebody shows up to offer you an opportunity to extend your copper cable product into the next generation of applications, who wouldn't jump on that opportunity? If S7 locked up the global cable suppliers in a contract to supply their needs, then they have locked up the ACC market, regardless of any other linear equalizer that might come along. The key IP is the know how for integrating the chip into a copper cable. Once S7 shared this know how, and the copper cable guys signed up, game over. Raouf obviously knows Macom executives well. He sold them Mindspeed for $200M. Raouf lived in coastal LA, just a couple hours from Semtech. We shall see how things unfold, but I think S7 has been a busy little bee.
