I agree, it's a shame that HDC never created any products since they could argue lost revenues due to unfair/illegal competition from Intel. However, I think HDC can still show lost revenue from royalties that Intel SHOULD have paid if they had licensed the technology legally. They can also show lost revenue from other potential licensees who might have licensed the technology but decided not to until the patent litigation was resolved. Why would anyone pay HDC to license the technology while Intel was disputing the validity of the patent? I think that $1B is the minimum. It could be much higher.
