“This is silly and totally wrong. One should read the indictments and statement of facts. First Trump did not divest. Trump retained Ownership of the Trump companies and benefited from their dealings.
However this illegal scheme, the hush payments to silence the women started in Aug 2015 when Trump met with AMI’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer & Michael Cohen in Trump Tower where they discussed suppressing damaging stories against Trump. AMI CEO agreed at that meeting to publish negative stories about Trump’s competitors.
AMI CEO 5 months later paid off the 1st woman $150,000 and falsely characterized this payment in AMI’s books and records, including in its general ledger. The AMI CEO agreed to the deal after discussing it with both Trump and Cohen, and on the understanding from Cohen that the Trump or the Trump Organization would reimburse AMI.
Trump later invited AMI CEO to the White House to thank him. In Oct 2016 Cohen negotiated $130,000 payment to the 2nd woman ( Stormy ). Payment was made through some shell company, Cohen setup.
Trump, Trump CFO and Cohen agreed that Cohen would be paid back $420,000 through 13 monthly payments of $35k. each month. Cohen was to send an invoice to Trump through Trump Organization employees, falsely requesting payment of $35,000 for legal services rendered in a given month of 2017 pursuant to a retainer agreement. In early February 2017, Trump and Cohen met in the Oval Office at the White House and confirmed this repayment arrangement.
Checks were falsely recorded as retainer payments. Nine checks were paid by Trump personally.
Cohen was charged. Was convicted for his role. AMI CEO co-operated and cut a deal. Now it’s Trump turn to face the music.
Trump participated from the beginning in the illegal hush payment scheme to the point of paying nine checks personally that were falsified as retainer fees when it was hush money payment.
A Jury will decide his fate but this idea that he can not be guilty because he gave control to his sons is misguided and without merit imho.”
