well, the editors are the ones controlling that. Sensationalism sells soap, that is why shitgibbon got almost limitless free press coverage for being an outrageous asshole, while candidates with good messages were barely mentioned. As you can guess, I was not and am not a fan of how news became monetized.

Thinking about it even more, perhaps sensationalism and objectivity go in waves? I cannot even imagine how many newspapers that the Lindbergh kidnapping sold, then Walter Cronkite came along, and news was a loss leader for their entertainment divisions.

Ted Turner kind of created more demand for news, then sadly FOX found the niche for propaganda-level news.

A sub crushing people at depth I guess triggers more imagination and desire to know more, than a bunch of people fleeing for their lives and dying in the process. One seems to be recurring uncomfortable old news, and the other a fresh take on ways to spend money and die doing it.

News: Trumpty incriminates himself after being told to shut up. Spinning around waiting for his indictment for his role in overthrowing democracy.
