That infrastructure doesn't really exist in the US (since the US doesn't produce much mundane silk of its own).

Exactly the point of the RFI! I'm glad we agree on something. The Air Force wants that infrastructure to exist in the U.S. so they don't have to rely on other countries, hence why they will pay a premium for U.S. companies to also produce products of interest (like spider silk) here in the U.S.

I'm glad people are starting to come around to why Kraig Labs is a shoe-in for the RFI funding.
