Also, just a side note; many of Spibers patent applications (especially their early ones) were for processing the broth into something useable. The many different steps they needed to take just to get it to a powder, then from a powder to a fiber.

Kraig labs doesn't need any steps to purify the silk because the silkworm glands only produce the desired silk proteins.

The rest of Spibers patent applications mostly focus on transforming their powders into other things like cosmetics, hair, meat substitutes, etc.

Spiber and Kraig Labs are going after different markets. Only when both of the companies start going after gels and powders, will they overlap. But Kraig Labs will mostly be focused on spider silk "fibers" for the foreseeable future.

GTman1,

Reading your post was interesting.
The first reaction was a positive one - hi less competition if i got your post right.
The secound reaction was not so positive.
It made me think that when other companys reached a dead end, they moved elasewere inorder to try and make it out there.

Based on what very littel info. we got via the lab's Pr's ,
i feel like the company is hitting a high wall,
going back and runing again just to hit that wall once again. imo.

Having said that , i think that we are not at the same stage we where some years ago, but can KBLB get to the point that it could sell and make profit by the millions $ USD. ???

As some of you know i hold KBLB since 2009.
I tryed to understand why so long...
Why not hold a company's stock with lower risk , or sales or profit.

I guess its Fomo - the fear of missing out what could / should/ might be on of the most outstanding investments .
What great power Fomo has on investers . some of them . )-:

I Hope for the best.
Good luck to you all.

Spiber remains a competitor. Your description of protein isolation is out of date. Read the paper I posted written by Randy Lewis and others on the cost of yeast based silk production. The actual process resembles the one used by oxygen concentrators. It is much cheaper than the clumsy centrifuge-based approach and results in a sufficient purity for their needs.

You are also wrong about fibers. Spiber is using their extracted proteins to produce fibers and to weave them into garments. They don’t call their fibers spider silk because they are better than spider silk.
