You never know. I've got friends who refuse to ever hold stock in individual companies and will only hold mutual funds.

I also was thinking if he got those shares many, many years ago he could be selling for tax harvesting reasons and planning on buying back in for the future. I doubt he NEEDS the $1000 and doubt he'd risk selling all his shares in any chance of being acused of insider trading.
