The social statement is....."We must recognize all the foreign movies who have not gotten their due over the years. Giving awards to minorities in America is much more important than giving to those more deserving.
The Fabelmans got zero awards, and at least in my mind (and I've been pretty good at recognizing good movies in the past), this was by far the best movie in some years.

I agree with this reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes....

I don't understand how the average score on this is 95% when review after review is 1 star? I see creative stats by RT, which makes me question the validity of this site, nonetheless, I am here idk why! Hollywood likes to hype movies that are off the beaten path, in my opinion it's out of jealousy and the "if I can't win neither can you" mindset of people who think they actually contribute to the betterment of humanity. This movie was nonsense, and I am a fan of way out there productions. (Hot dogs fingers? Uma Thurman did it better in Earth Girls
