Yep they could be, but every time we do this we make it even harder for the next one. At some point you have to say enough is enough or it’s moral hazard forever, and someday it will be too big to deal with.
They can backstop these customers with high interest short term loans, say 9% for 3 months collateralized with their assets if they insist on doing something. Works for me.
