Thanks for the needed correction. That small reservoir drains into the Pacific about 30 miles downstream. Santa Maria is home to about 109,000 people.

It is clearly not the only source of water for farming.

Twitchell Reservoir does not drain into the Pacific Ocean. It stores water for downstream agriculture… and could potentially store years of needed water if it were not clogged with decades of silt and sediment runoff.
