Mac - Not quite. Natural gas is about the same density as air and doesn't rise like hydrogen does.

And natural gas ignites ONLY when there is a 15% fuel / air ratio. Higher concentrations of natural gas won't ignite because the mixture is too rich to support combustion.

More than once I have witnessed a methane "cloud" burning at the extremities, but the center of the cloud not burning.
