I think you’re correct. Hopefully it’s as much of a required step or formality as Donato granting a new Alice 101 request after the previous termination.

$.0301 Honestly, to me with all the moving parts and the concentration there(all the courtroom stuff), the possibly of "something good/big/huge" being close by, to me, is being discounted. The "parties could not...." works until the parties do! Some of our adversaries are starting to see damage models, seeing us moving forward in Waco... Judge Albright likes for folks to chat things out...

huawei: Probably smallest tab of the bunch, but why the somewhat sudden move to Northern District of TX? A licensing/settlement, small as it might be, could get the ball rolling.

vz: My guess would be a fairly large tab, especially tab/market cap. vz market cap is around $170B... Compare that to amzn/goog over a $Trillion each. That vz damage tab could have vz saying, "DAMN.....age"!

aapl/t: What did Emil get to agree to the stipulation to dismiss? That is very intriguing...

D4L, I'm not saying you can't be correct, but something is cooking and it just keeps coming back into my mind. As I said, I thought too much was being put on Donato and I stick with that. WE ARE IN WACO>>>>'The Rocket Docket'...Emil/Lewis, let's gett'r DONE!

I'm guessing, but I bet a few hope I am correct. BTW, 6 months? We might be holding stock in one of the cheat'n bigs by then!

THINK FOLKS, not that you aren't:

I honestly believe the pre-trial settlement step with the magistrate is nothing more than a required step or formality in the courts.

How many previous cases have we read about early settlement meetings that come back as “parties could not agree or find an acceptable pre-trial settlement?”

I believe you're right on Drumming and that the NDCA referral for Settlement is part of standard procedure, can't find it now, but know I've read it somewhere.

Also, looks like Hundell is ready, running & gunning at full speed. And, IMO, definitely had something to do with the expeditious nature of this Amazon Markman hearing:

See #3 below of the "General Issues" section of Albrights "ORDER GOVERNING PROCEEDINGS – PATENT CASE" :

"The Court will entertain reasonable requests to streamline the case schedule and discovery
and encourages the parties to contact the Court’s law clerk (with opposing counsel) to
arrange a call with the Court when such interaction might help streamline the case.":
