That is just a smart marketing move IMO. Sponsor The local Professional minor league hockey team, print the teams logo on the canned beer and put it up for sale at all the home games.

Also 74% of Canadian beer is sold in cans. Company wants to get in the Candian beer market, setting up the canning line of business was a great move.
