Reminds me of the fact that Dilbert is often an idea that readers send in. Scott Adams got so much feedback in the form of stories, he invited readers to share and used them to form strips.

Unfortunately I've seen elements of the parable at work with several companies in the area. 3 went out of business and the fourth was bought by a company in India.
