NAC is actually a drug - it is uniform in its composition so the brand doesn't matter.. It should be used daily, especially for people with chronic inflammatory issues and disease, mitochondrial dysfunction, and aging. 600mg is the most common 3x per day would be a minimum dose which would keep it in your system most of the day. Chronically ill and elderly should use more. When I have a pulmonary exacerbation I use more.

Just ran into this paper suggesting NAC with a prescription drug that highlights the important point that NAC is a drug. It is the only drug that I know of that is 99.9% safe. The only negative I know of is that hospitals have overdosed patients when giving NAC via I.V. for treatment of acetaminophen poisoning.
