The initial grassroots approach, to get the name out, was an inexpensive model. They missed the mark by not getting into gamer space with E-sports at its peak. Granted that space is dominated by Monster and Red Bull, and a few others, but at least throw your name into the ring with some free product, with cost written off as advertising.
