No, but you can set the default sort order a number of different ways Maybe that would meet your needs. Look under Settings->My Site Options

2nd Q; Is there a weekly (7 day) "post count" for the individual rooms that I can check when I desire to?

Not at this time. We provide a total post count that is in the About portion of the board page.
