A highway service station with EV and Truck recharging will require the same electricity demand as a small town. It's why PLUG is pushing hard to install behind the meter stationary fuel cells (1-3MW) to charge trucks. Easier to ship in hydrogen than build the transmission lines and substations required to power small town.


I also see this in the article itself:

The truck stops will be selected based on customer needs, current and anticipated battery-electric truck density, and the availability of public funding to support infrastructure costs.



So someone else has to foot the expensive part of the project...
