I have an idea, more demonstrative of real cost.
You can't live in L.A. on $500.00 PER WEEK. unless you live with a friend............who makes more.........in a one bedroom.........
SO, lets take that $500.00.....
On Friday, no check for 800.00, after tax.....aprox. "I'll pay the rent next week" it WAS an end of the month check. NEXT week..blah blah..........
Wed. they owe you 2 weeks missed PLUS the lag week between work and check AND now part of this week. I'm screwed, do I walk or stay? IF I stay they say I'll get paid....I have no other job, I might as well stay........Friday, no check, again...so, PISSED as HELL you leave......NOW they owe you 4 weeks. apply for unemployment......2 weeks before it kicks in, IF they don't put you on hold for review, because "We're told that you quit". Now you are 6 weeks + behind. IF you get a check in 2 weeks, you are 8 weeks behind, and have no prospect of making it up. It is unlikley that you get your first unemployment check until 2-6 weeks after you reply that "they are crooks ,I need to pay bills, they owe me for my work". Lets say 2 more weeks...... now we are at 10 weeks minimum............. Take 10X whatever you earn per week..........about 20% of your pre tax, and deduct it from your checking account..as if you would keep THAT kind of money in a checking accoutnt,,,,,,,,OK take it out of your 401K......
THAT is what QBID did to their loyal (read stupid) employees........
Some of those people lost cars and HOMES...........
Investers got screwrd, but employees??????????? PLEASE think of the relative impact............and have a heart before you tell ME that they were NOT hurt at LEAST as much as investors. I still have my home and cars, lucky me, some of them don't even have a home.

According to the complaint filed, Fan - FAN, not Olsen - "knowingly and willfully" stiffed workers for near $120,000, not including penalties & interest. And many of the April/May people hadn't filed yet, including myself, due to a communication mix-up. So, Fan's total will rise.

Now, add to that in excess of $600,000 due to workers by Olsen for the January/February group. Tallied, with Fan's total, the penalties and interest, it is in excess of two million.

As for how that breaks down on an individual level, I couldn't tell you because pay varied by position and from what I've read, they varied greatly. I'm not going to state in a public forum what I was making or what I'm owed. I will say my salary was below market level for my job in this city, more so given my experience & ability in that position.

And before anyone starts, I'm NOT "whining", I'm answering the damn question! :)
