Hi bbotcs, I suspect Trump was planning on announcing his candidacy basking on the glow of overturned Democratic house seats. That plus DeSantis's popularity took the air out of that plan.
I don't think Trump appreciates how much his continued discredited lies about the 2020 election along with condoning a rabid storming of the Capitol turned moderate republicans against him.
As for Maryland, we'll see what comes next. Hopefully the democrats will remember its was their "rain tax" that got Hogan elected and they will govern with that in mind.
