Since most all about Plato and Socrates has become misty in recall i'll only say that Plato, though he didn't agree with all Socrates said, apparently respected his teacher greatly. Not sure if you know Socrates never wrote anything down. And various philosophers of the time took quite varying takes from his teachings.
"If you don't find the quote illogical or egomaniacal (on Plato's part) and are uninterested in the topic, fine, then this dialogue will have to struggle along without you.
P - Is our moderator claiming that, like Plato, only his knowledge is worthwhile? (this is meant as a joke) Maybe Plato and Socrates had a bit of a war of words going on between themselves, like the relationship between Lennon and McCartney became."
I don't find the quote egomaniacal at all. You might wonder where the egotistical sense you get from it comes from. I've just always felt it is just a comment about how important any person should see themself as.
Ha, to your joke, yeah that sure would be a joke. It really couldn't even enter your mind if you knew me as well as you could before now. LOL i have made multiple comment on what i think of what little knowledge i know i have on any number of things.
Have never read of anything like any war of words between the two. Surely you have read some on them since you introduced the discussion, eh.
