If you go with a .223 Remington 700 the twist should be around a 1-9 if I recall. Dont hold me to it because I dont own one. Federal has a 69 grain match grade boat tail hollow point that works well with the Remington. The yardage you are speaking of is well with in the ability of that rifle and ammo combination. Like most Remingtons 700 series using match they shoot sub minute of angle. My personal sniper rifle is a jazzed up Remington BDL .308. Right out of the box it shot 1/4 minute of angle consistantly. IMO get yourself a Leupold 3.5x10 or 4.5x14 power scope with tactical turrets with a one piece base and rings. I know that I may be talking expensive to you. I dont know your budget but like anything else you get what you pay for. Whatever you do take your time and read up. I can direct you and give some assistance if you are interested. There are plenty other scopes and rifle and ammo combos you can use. I am just pointing out a few that are tried and true by yours personally and many others that still work in my old field.

When it comes down to it we dont know each other but I sure would like to hear how you were nailing coyotes when you get your system up and running. I just love it!

For those of you who do not know me, I am no Gods gift to shooting. I know the basics well enough to be considered an 'expert'. That word always made me uncomfortable. I just did my job like so many others who I look at as experts. I took pride in my craft and did real well at it and happen to know a thing or two. Reloading and gun smithing/armourer work is not my gig. I just shot the damn things and did basic repairs/adjustments while at the ranges and other places. I am happy to help out any red blooded American who likes long guns.
