I hear you on CFPB. Even if they do bulldoze as you put it, they will find a way to not apply the ruling to FHFA. Remember severability? Don't count on the plain english application of common law, or statute, to lead the Judiciary against the bureaucracies.

I like having an agency to protect consumers - I am D

but if the rules are A B C and the current consumer agency broke those rules

that is reality

fix - change the rules

or rebuild (I think with a commission oversight?)

For now - IMO the issue is not is the agency doing a good job --- but the construction of that agency and FHFA and any other like it

That issue is independent and needs to be wrestled to its logical conclusion - be it what it may
