The PSA is a bad example to make my point. I do believe there are other tests in use today which involve a light version of the test for routine screening, then a heavier version if the light version comes up positive.

psa lousy test, only used since nothing better yet. approx 15% ca pt have negative test. besides development of the cheap test could be new partner or milestone money from GE
