My best bet is to bow out, but ...

I have a problem seeing a major difference between scanning the 100 posts between #950 - #1050 on the one hand and scanning posts #950 - #1000 and #1000 - #1050 on the other. The meaningless posts are going to be present in either case.

Now, if you were to ask for some number of posts LINKED to and from post #1000, that might be real neat ... in terms of following the drift of a series of exchanges.
