Could be a sell if the transaction is filling a sell order. If charting software is counting buys and sells off the bid or ask, it is not looking at the true picture.
I have hit the ASK many, many times and the trade gets recorded on tape as a SELL because MM filled the order at a better price than the ASK.
Remember that ASK is nothing more than a MM offering to sell x amount of shares for x price. Most of the time they are Shorting those shares and will work to cover those shares at a lower price and they make money.
As you have seen many MM trades are made between the BID and ASK if any of the other MM want to play.
It is just another reason you can't beat these guys short term and the crumbs are not worth the effort. Play for the HUGE Payoffs. it is worth the wait.
That doesn't really explain what we are seeing here. I have been wondering about those 5 and 6 digit trade because none of us can place an order like that.
And what the heck is up with the denominations on multiple trades being that same and for ridiculously low amounts of money, over and over.
I have had my trading show as sells and long waits to purchase the trade at close or high as ask price. Some games being played for sure.
