Steve - Some costs remain the same: Very Expensive.

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the cost breakdown of a PEM electrolyzer is as follows:

Power Supply: 27.5%
Water Circulation: 12.1%
Hydrogen Processing: 11%
Cooling: 4.4%
Porous Transport Layer: 7.7%
Small parts: 1.4%
Bipolar Plates: 23.9%
Stack assembly and end plates: 1.4%
Catalyst Coated Membrane Manufacturing: 4.5%
Membrane: 2.3%
Iridium: 2.7%
Platinum: 1.4%

Interesting: The Balance of Plant accounts for 55%, the stack “only” for 45% of the cost.

You must have missed the Q2 2022 earnings call. Dramatic reduction in service costs, up to 70%, due to the continued roll-out of the improved fuel cells. Margin improvements due to refreshing existing fuel cells when new contracts roll around and new fuel cells going to new sites.
