A silkworm and Mulberry trial was started the same time kbl had their first Mulberry Planted by a co-op in 2018
The trial was completed last year and results released in April.
After 3 years of trial production, the relevant units have identified 3 types of mulberry varieties grown with high efficiency in Quang Nam, including VH15, GQ2, S7CB. The average planting density is about 50,000 trees/ha, the leaf yield in the second year is from 34.39 to 36.85 tons/ha.
Besides, the suitable silkworm breeding structure in Quang Nam has been determined: In the spring and autumn crops, 3 varieties of white cocoon bisexual silkworms including GQ1235, LD09, LQ2, silkworm vitality reached 80-87%, cocoon yield from 13 - 15 kg/round of eggs, the weight of the whole cocoon is from 1.50 - 1.51 grams, the rate of cocoon shell is from 20 - 21%;

In the summer crop, two multi-system silkworm hybrids with golden cocoons VNT1, HSK x 09, silkworm vitality reached more than 89%, the cocoon yield was 12-14kg/round, the whole cocoon weight was from 1.40-1.50 grams, the rate of cocoon shell reached from 16 to 17%.
